Business Continuity
Ruling to
Set Standards for British Business |
| DataFort
Helps Companies Achieve Accreditation With PAS 56 |
| Release
date: April 2004 |
| DataFort,
the leading provider of managed off-site data backup,
today announced that it’s award-winning remote backup
system will help small to medium sized companies comply
with a new British standard set to come into force within
the next eighteen months. |
| The
new Government-backed PAS 56 standard will encourage
companies to adopt best practice in business continuity
and disaster recovery planning. It provides a checklist,
alerting businesses to potential risks. To align their
processes with the new standard, companies will need
to put in place clearly defined backup procedures and
retrieval processes for their business critical data. |
| Gavin
Smith, CEO and founder of DataFort comments: “Without
PAS 56 compliance, companies may find it difficult to
win business as they cannot guarantee continuity of
service, should their systems go off-line for a substantial
period of time. Smaller companies may struggle to achieve
compliance with PAS 56, as secure backup can be costly,
while the testing and management of business continuity
systems can be difficult for companies with limited
resources.” |
| “DataFort
offers a completely managed backup service that removes
the administrative burden of business continuity, allowing
SMEs to focus on their core daily activities”,
continues Smith. “Daily backups can be remotely
configured, tested and monitored to ensure compliance
with PAS 56.” |
| Based
on a utility pricing model, DataFort customers only
need to pay for the storage space they use. Data is
stored on mirrored servers at a highly secure, fireproof
data centre and customers can easily restore information
back to their current or new computer as needed. |
