Backup: A Key 'Value Added' Service for Software
Companies
Software
companies at the pinnacle of lucrative verticals
need a strategy to stay ahead of competitors vying
for market share. A proven means of maintaining
a dominant market position, is to add services
alongside your current offering, not only to promote
customer loyalty, but also to provide additional
revenue by increasing the spend per customer.
But what services will compliment what you
already sell, without diverting resources from
your core business? One area companies are investigating,
particularly in data rich environments, is the
security of that critical data.
DataFort
is one of only a handful of companies world
wide able to integrate online backup services
into another software package. The commercial
advantage to our partner is simple; we manage
the service and after the initial development,
charge our partner a fee that is a fraction
of the price the partner can then charge
their customer.
The advantage
to the customer is clear. DataFort will
automatically secure the critical data associated
with an application, and should that data
go missing or be destroyed, it can be downloaded
quickly and efficiently from an encrypted
archive stored in a secure location. All
these functions are seamlessly integrated
into the partner’s software package,
and appear to be an additional function
of the software.
DataFort
will work with the partner’s development
team to integrate the backup service. They
will then work on structuring a service
offering that can either leverage off DataFort’s
reputation for advanced data security, or
appear to be managed by the partner company.
In most cases
DataFort will bill the partner directly
for blocks of space on their servers, while
the partner handles the relationship with
their customer. The service is entirely
managed from DataFort’s secure data
centre and NOC.
